{What {she} wore Wednesday}

 

Around our house we have an unspoken rule. Whatever {insert item name here} I create, the princess gets to keep the first one. I mean, the girl is the name sake of the shop after all. Fair is fair, right? And since most items in the shop are made to order, it lets me stock the site and keep my little cuties looking good too. It’s called working smart, not hard.

We had a few errands to run today for some special 4th of July items we’re adding to the shop, so Abby decided that she would sport the new boutique flip flops around town. She looked so stinkin cute, I had to grab the camera and snap a few pics.

   

She was very distressed about the chipped nail.

Oh the drama.

{Weekend Re-cap}

It feels soooo good to be back in the studio and back to work this morning.

How is it that I have to get back to work to get some rest?

Here’s a little recap….

(1) That’s my sweet hubby taking a pie in the face so support our company’s Family Readiness Group at a cookout on Friday. (2) We hosted another cookout at our house on Sunday for more army friends. (3) My fabulous Craigslist find that’s gonna get a makeover and be my new desk SCORE!  (4) The hubs cheesing for the camera. (5)  Make your own pizza night with our three year old- yes, that’s mac and cheese.

What did your weekend look like?

{The Sample Boxes-Winners}

Two weeks ago, I announced on my blog that I would be giving away sample boxes to a few lucky ladies, complete with Abby Maddy goodies inside. I was looking for a way to give back to my customers and readers and just show a little love.

But what I didn’t anticipate, was all the love you would show me.

You guys, you made me weep like a crazy lady. Your comments were beautiful, but your emails brought tears to my eyes. With every buzz of my email there was another little gift of words waiting for me. And they just kept coming. I was stunned. and overwhelmed. and very grateful.

You see, having an online business/blog/life is beautiful and convenient and so much fun. But sometimes, it’s also isolating and nerve racking and hard. There’s no office to retreat to, no assistant to take your calls, no co-workers at the desk next door, no guidebook or instructions. And despite my husband’s constant affirmation and support, sometimes a girl just wonders if she’s doing it right.

And you guys certainly let me know that I'm doing something right. And I love you for it.

{Military Spouse Giveaway // New Etsy Shop..}

Last night we started a yoga class and I almost fell asleep in the first position.

And it wasn’t even that comfortable.

I really, really, need a nap.

Oh what a week.  It’s been pure busyness around here, from sweet friends visiting for two weeks, to big army-life surprises to end of school year chaos, to LOTS of happenings in the Abby Maddy world…the list goes on.  I’m swear I’m just going on coffee and adrenaline at this point.

But…

Now for some really big news…

Back when I started Abby Maddy, one thing I knew was that I wanted to design and host my own website. I love the idea of having a little “home” on the web and a site that I can really put my heart, soul and brand into. And with the help of some very talented web designers, we did just that. And I couldn’t love it more.

But with growth comes new demands, and new opportunities and so for a few months, we’ve been considering adding an Etsy shop to our list of little “homes” on the web.

And I feel like the time is finally right.

{The Kentucky Derby}

I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago, that we had splurged on box seats at the Kentucky Derby this year, and this past weekend we decked it out, grabbed our hats and headed over to Churchill Downs for an amazing {hot} day.

We filled our day with mint juleps, good food, people watching and {little} betting.

And seriously, how cute it my hubby!?!

The guys got really into their outfits, it was hilarious.

     

The Derby has been on my bucket list for a while and it was awesome to be able to cross it off.

But we had so much fun, we’re already planning for next year- except next time we’re going for the covered box seats. I may have left looking like a southern belle, but I came home looking like a lobster. But it was totally worth it.

And in case you missed it, “I’ll Have Another” was the 138th winner of the Kentucky Derby.

Good name. Good name.
