On our recent vacation, we made a trip to a nearby IKEA. It was my first time visiting and oh. my. goodness. I was in heaven. It was like the mother ship was calling me home. I mean, that store spoke to my inner OCD. Everything in there is functional first, decorative second and it was love at first flat packed box. And trust me, I squeezed as many of those boxes into the back of our SUV as I possibly could {with two suitcases, a stroller and a portable crib already in tow}. Luckily the hubby humored me and went along with my temporary trip to insanity. I think he was secretly smitten too.
Organization is my favorite hobby. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t. But with a one year old, a three year old, a business run out of our home and a hubby who works 16 hour days, organization has quickly become our key to survival. I’m constantly working on ways to better use our space and time, especially for those catch all parts of the house and busy times of day {like our morning routine}.

And for the past year I’ve been working hard at decluttering, decrappifying and organizing, organizing, organizing. It’s be the most amazing, liberating feeling knowing that the closets are not busting at the seams and that there absolutely nothing under our beds. It’s freeing, in every sense of the word.

You can click here to read my post about how I did a lot of our organizing around the house. And now that I’m finally feeling like our day to day routines are under control, I’ve moved on to tackling the home office {moving out of the Abby Maddy studio and being newly created inside our living room}, making a planner full of easy and clean meals and grocery lists, tackling our budget on paper {not just in my datebook/file folder} and putting the kids schedules on paper now that we more frequently rely on babysitters.
